I was born and raised in Uganda, East Africa. I knew from my early years that I wanted to be a Medical doctor. When I was in High School my older brother and sister were admitted to the only Medical School in Uganda at the time. They were the first two students from my village to be admitted to Medical School. I was determined to follow in their footsteps. My father worked for the government as a community development officer and his battle cry to us each time we returned to boarding school was, "Go and study!" There was never an excuse not to excel in school and we all did well.
My husband and I came to America because of very unfortunate political upheavals which destroyed the hope of our new nation. I kept my dream to go to Medical School alive by doing a second Bachelors degree in Medical Technology. The path to Medical School was long but I was, after much preparation accepted into the Medical College of Virginia in 2003, thirteen years after arriving in this great country. I was now a mother of two teenagers and a six year old. With my husband's blessing and support, I travelled to Richmond to start Medical School. My passion has always been to provide quality Community based Family Medicine. I firmly believe that the the Family Medicine office should be a home for all patients, the central command post if you will. We planned Homa Family Medicine with this in mind. At our office at the Germantown Medical Center, we are equipped to provide comprehensive Primary care for patients of all ages. I welcome you all to Homa Family Medicine.
