As a mom of 2 young boys, finding time for myself can be a challenge. But finding time to genuinely improve my health by being mindful of my diet, working out regularly and meeting new mom friends all at the same time seemed impossible.....until I joined Fit4Mom's Body Back Transformation. This 8 week course focuses on busy mothers to encourage you to be the best version of yourself in a timely and realistic way. It holds you accountable for your workouts and meal planning, while being flexible to accommodate the unpredictable moments of parenthood.
My first session started with outlining my personal goals and having my measurements taken, as well as a timed fitness assessment. Since we are all in various shapes and sizes, each of us started on our own journey; some of us wanted to lose the baby weight while still breastfeeding while others of us have kids in school and wanted to get back in shape after years of putting our workouts on the back burner of life. No matter where we were in our progress, everyone was supportive, kind and positive. We workout with no pressure of competing against anyone except ourselves, which in turn, made it a fun and active get together with like-minded women.
Each day I tracked exactly what I ate (as well as how much water I drank) using an online journal and prepped several delicious meals and snacks from the Fit4Mom recipe book. I also checked in with our private Facebook group for recipe sharing, friendly chats and judgement-free motivation. Another lifestyle habit that I formed was planning how I would move my body each day with either the twice a week group workout, an online video series they provide, or even just a walk with my kids. As the weeks went on, I began to look forward to my routine of daily check-ins and evening workouts. My instructor, Katie, was energetic, friendly and encouraging. With a young son (and a baby on the way) she knows first-hand about the juggling act of motherhood and how important it is to be a healthy role model for your kids. She kept reminding us of how strong we are and that "what doesn't challenge you, doesn't change you."
This motto has held true for me, and as my 8 week session came to an end, I had lost several pounds and inches. I also increased my endurance and reps for each of my fitness assessment measurements, which meant that I successfully challenged and changed my well-being. I am a stronger, healthier and prouder version of myself. This physical transformation, along with the healthy lifestyle habits and positive mindset, will propel me into being the best mom that I can be…for my kids and for myself.
